Changes we made during 2021

A big focus this year would be the backyard and porch, once the weather improved. We made several design decisions and decided to go big with a composite deck. These projects were constructed by me, except for the help with the large turf.

Original backyard looking South.

Truck delivery: Timbertech composite decking, 2x6 treated lumber,
2'x2' cement pads.

Turf: We needed something for the transition from the house to the deck and decided to fill the area with artificial turf.

French drain added to end of driveway prior to installing turf.

We hired a crew to remove the gravel and install the turf.

Finished turf install.

Shed: We also wanted to replace the 8x8 rotting wood shed with a new 12.5x8 vinyl shed.

New shed foundation of 2x2 cement blocks (shed floor shown).

New shed is longer and can use full height at the sides.
Turf scraps were placed to end of deck.

A large storage bin was also added for the cushions of the deck furniture.

The South wall was painted and .
the bed filled with quartz.

Backyard completed.

We also wanted to make drastic improvements to the porch.

Main entrance.

Removed the white railing, installed black posts, and covered with TimberTech.

Removed siding and sliding patio door.

Window installed.

Aluminum siding installed vertically for an accent wall.

There will be glass installed on the valley side of the porch and the aluminum siding around the door will be installed in 2022 when it warms up again. The stairs will also get deck material topping.

The guest bathroom also got an overhaul with a new bidet toilet, wall mounted heater, 3 drawer vanity, new faucet, LED lighting, mud & paint, vinyl plank flooring, Panasonic ceiling fan, and wall-inset 30" x 36" medicine cabinet.

We installed a Murphey bed in the office so that we can now have guests stay the night.
